Janay UNT Graduate: Class of 2015

When Janay reached out to me regarding her Senior photos I was super stoked. Then I learned she was a college graduate and I got even MORE excited!!! I love to photograph college seniors because they are over flowing with confidence and happiness. Janay was no different; in fact she was VERY confident and knew exactly what she wanted to do! From the moment we discussed her vision for the session to the moment that we talked future plans, Janay knew exactly what she wanted.

I had a great time with Janay and her family during the session. Here are a few favorites from her session:

This next photo is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!! She wore GREAT colors and she didn’t hesitate to bring out her inner diva. I loved how she went with the flow and allowed me to be creative w/ my posing. Any suggestion I gave, she pulled it off and added a little of her own touch!

She made it very clear that she drew inspiration from her cousin that passed away too soon. I could hear the love and respect she had for Korraun, her cousin, and how he inspired her to finish school. We discussed how we could incorporate her inspiration into her session so she may capture this moment of gratitude and love for Korraun. Here are just a few from this beautiful moment:

I asked Janay if she could send a message to Korraun what would it be and she replied with the following:

“Growing up going to college was just a dream that I never put much thought into but in October of 2002 I lost my biggest inspiration and even then school and my future wasn’t important. After putting my cousin Korraun to rest i knew that everything he worked so hard to accomplish, he wasn’t  going to achieve. He was such a fighter, he never gave up and he always encouraged us to do better. Now in his honor I’ve been blessed to graduate from the University of North Texas with my Bachelors and I just want him to know that no matter what I will continue to strive for greatness in his honor. I would trade everything I have just to spend one day with him, just tell him how much he’s missed and how much he’s loved.

I love you cuz… R.I.P your little cuz Janay”

Talking about Korraun made me emotional the first time and having Janay express how much he meant to her in the statement above made me even more emotional. I have no doubt in my mind that Janay is going to excel at anything she does because she is also a fighter and she has an angel by her side. Janay, may you have the best of luck, blessings, opportunities and open doors in the years to come! It’s been a blessing to know you.
